María Isabel Oliva

María Isabel develops, manages and implements the initiatives to attract entrepreneurships and business to Alterna´s network. María Isabel studied Chemical Engineering in Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala and has a master’s degree in Business Administration of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, during this program she received international courses of social innovation and entrepreneurship. During 5 years and a half she worked implementation and certification processes in management systems of different plants in Central America and Mexico, she lived temporarily in Costa Rica to work a realignment process for the management systems of the plant. In the past 2 years and a half, she worked as a consultant of entrepreneurship, sustainable tourism and has participated in consultancies to measure the impacts of social innovation platforms. She also is the owner of a slow fashion entrepreneurship to propose an alternative to generate a higher local value considering people and the environment. Out of the office María Isabel enjoys being with her cats and dogs or working in her garden, she likes to do trekking, trail running and CrossFit.

What inspires her?
She is inspired by entrepreneurship and social innovation because she believes that are key elements to an inclusive economic growth in the region. She likes art in all of its expressions, enjoys poetry, films and photography

Curious fact
She likes mountaineering and have done trails in mountains of Central America, Chile and Peru.
